A book to read on a lonely night when you wish nothing more than to settle comfortably and revisit a well-loved and old friend. Silent Thunder by Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen, Watchers by Dean Koontz, and James Rollins...well, so many wonderful old friends. And now Ava Strong and this striking series she has brought to us starting with The Death Code. What marvelous human fun mixed with such tragedy, remorse, love lost, love yearned, evil twisting mind and heart, yet such heroic goodness of heart...the full human spectrum of thought and deed found in every human heart and soul. This author shocked me with this novel as so much of an imaginative story condensed into an interesting and surprisingly single perfect sitting without a wasted word or a 'just get on with it' moment is rare for me. Not even a moment away to refresh my tea. Welcome, my friend.

I loved Remi Laurent. In this first of the series, we meet this history professor with a bookish memory for obscure historical artifacts. When a serial killer begins to target his victims within obscure settings in the big apple, Remi is asked to assist. Partnered with Daniel Walker, a difficult and brilliant FBI Agent. He is part of the FBI’s antiquities unit who are assigned to find one-of-a-kind relics that go down missing. He can think like the killers he hunts. His street smarts paired with her mind make for a dynamic team in this nicely paced thriller. Can’t wait for more. **I received this book in exchange for an honest review. **

A street smart FBI Agent and a History Professor with a memory for historical facts make an odd couple for solving crime involving priceless antique’s. This unlikely duo will take you on a hunt for a killer who is stealing historical paintings. This book is surrounded by history, and packed with suspenseful events that make you look at things in a new way. This book has a good plot and will have you looking forward to the next book in the series.
