Bellini's Mimosa (Colors of Happiness Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 324 ratings

Mimi swallowed away a trickle of tears as she followed the stream of travelers into the train station. “Jake…Jacob…Giacomo,” she quietly repeated how he introduced himself. As if in answer, the bells of San Simeone chimed the full hour—and the end of her Italian adventure.

A chance encounter, an unforgettable kiss at the Vaporetto—and all he had was her first name. “Mimi. Or Emily. Only Emily.” How was he supposed to find her?

Six months in Italy was precisely what Mimi Albizia needed to move on from an incident that cracked her trust in men. Just as she is ready to resume her old life in Boston, charming—and very sexy—Jake Bellini swoops into her life and proves that not all men are jerks. But with their lives thousands of miles apart, a relationship is impossible. If only she could stop thinking about him…

Jake Bellini refuses to accept his appointed role at his father’s hotel on Martha’s Vineyard. He prefers to follow his passion for winemaking at his uncle’s Tuscan vineyard and keeps romances light. Until a brief encounter with an intriguing woman makes him question his definition of
la dolce vita. But when he reaches out to her, Mimi has vanished.

As Mimi faces her past and Jake questions his future, another surprise reunion ignites new passions. Can Mimi trust her heart, and will an undeniable chemistry be enough to bring Jake home?

Review

Bellini's Mimosa is a beautifully crafted story of a chance encounter connecting two strangers during a pivotal period. It is ripe with passion, Italian culture, family traditions, and mouthwatering food and wine descriptions. It is a book that will remind you of your very first love or, if you are fortunate, your everlasting love. - Barbara Conrey, USA TODAY bestselling author of Nowhere Near Goodbye

Bellini's Mimosa by Annette G. Anders was like a Romeo and Juliet story built around family, work, friendship, joy, challenges, betrayal, and tears. I loved the unique plot, the lighthearted yet educative storyline, development, and dialog. -
Jennifer Ibiam, Readers' Favorite

"With descriptions that leap off the page, steeped rich in family tradition, and where culture comes alive with its art, food, wine, the language of love, and the gift of family and friends, you will find yourself immersed." -
D. M. Birt, Wild Sage Book Blog

"A contemporary romance told from both sides, this feel-good story follows Mimi and Jake as they meet, meet again, and work to figure out who they are and what they want. [..] As they struggle with their personal dilemmas involving family, work, ambitions, and expectations, their romance blossoms despite the distance between them." -

From the Author

The inspiration for the Colors of Happiness series was born from my travels and the awe-inspiring beauty of sunsets and sunrises. While parts of Bellini's Mimosa unfold in Italy, most of this series is set on Martha's Vineyard, a place that has captured my heart. Writing these books, I spent several weeks on this charming island, wandering the narrow streets of Oak Bluffs, watching the ocean waves roll onto the beaches, and discovering its idyllic villages. I'm not writing travel guides, but I do enjoy sharing my personal experiences with you. If you like books with relatable characters, spicy romance, family values, and friendship, I invite you to go on a journey with the Colors of Happiness series.

A wonderful summer read

A wonderful summer read
Loved this book! It's my favorite from the author. Having lived in New England since 1977, it was fun to read about areas I've actually visited and those that are on my bucket list. It's a sweet love story with a wonderful, strong female lead and a man who isn't afraid to show his true feelings for her. It's not your typical testosterone filled romance book. This would be great for the beach or poolside. Bring on the next one Annette!

This book is as luscious as a piece of chocolate. Travel to romantic Tuscany and charming Martha’s Vineyard in this evocative story while you inhale the scents of the sea and grapevines and drink a bold red with Jake (who you’ll adore), Mimi, and all the other wonderful characters. If you’re up for some hot romance, Anders definitely delivers!

I loved the story, but it got a little sappy at times, could cut some out. Get to the point more quickly. Keep in more of Venice.

Jake and Mimi love story was beautiful. I liked the build up to their story from the 1st time they met in Italy up until they met again on Martha's Vineyard. There was no rush to have sex and instead their love just blossomed for each other. And Jake's extended family accepted Mimi like shevhas been a part of the family for years. I look forward to reading Paloma and Matt's story and I hope there's a story Carlotta too and perhaps Mimi sister as well!

Such a fun story combining love, family, and wonderful locations you can picture yourself in. I not only fell in love with Jake and Mimi, the two main characters, but I really liked the supporting characters too. This book flows so easily before you know it you’ll be turning the last page. I look forward to the second book in the series.

This is such a lovely book. I like the characters, the development of relationships, the settings. I had a very hard time putting this book down. I wanted to keep reading. I have been, to Martha’s Vineyard, so that was an extra plus for me. I also liked hearing about some of the island’s history.

I purchased this only because it was a Book Club pick. What a waste of $15. The story was a flimsy romance with way too much sex description. I am no prude but at least it could have had a little more story to offset the raunch. I gave it a two rating which was way too generous.
